Congratulations to this year's Illinois State Scholars: Gary Herschberger, Aiden Short, Shyanne Hunter, Adalee Nichols, and Kaitlyn White! This is a tremendous honor that requires hard work, intelligence, and dedication. Illinois State Scholars are chosen through a formula that is based off of SAT scores and class rank.

Thank you to Dr. Neal from EIU and Dr. Seapy from Millikin for coming in to work with our high school and middle school bands. We are so lucky to have great teachers and colleges nearby!
Sullivan High School Student Council is once again represented on the EIDASC Executive Board. Kyleigh Read was elected the 2019-2020 State District Liaison. Over the next year Kyleigh will provide information to the Illinois Association of Student Councils board about what the district is accomplishing. Carley Towle finished her year of service as EIDASC Secretary.
Sullivan High Student Council members are heading to district convention and taking with them wrapping paper to donate towards the district service project: One Stop Christmas Shop. Families in our area are able to go and get Christmas gifts for their children each year in Mattoon and they receive a roll of wrapping paper to wrap their children’s gifts. The EIDASC has taken on the role of trying to provide the wrapping paper for this event and SHS is proud to participate in making Christmas a little brighter for those who are less fortunate.
The Future Educators Club, a new club in the high school this year, had special guest at their November meeting. Teachers from across the district came to talk with the members about lesson planning. Members of the club will begin planning a lesson to give to students over the next couple months. This new club hopes to give students information about the field of education and what it is like to be a teacher.
The Student Council Executive Board was able to go and play Bingo with residents at Courtyard Estates in November. It is always nice to get out into the community and give back!
