The SMS social studies department was awarded a grant in 2019 aimed at funding an 8th grade class field trip to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Unfortunately, field trips were suspended due to COVID-19. Today, we were able to take 80 of our closest friends to the Museum, and it was an absolute blast!
Huge shoutout to our chaperones, the SHS kitchen staff for preparing staff lunches, and the Abraham Lincoln Foundation for awarding us this awesome opportunity. #onetribe

Students in Mr. Webb’s 7th grade social studies classes participated in a taxation simulation today using M&M candies! Some students, like “King” Sawyer (pictured below), left class with a hefty amount of M&Ms while others spent a few minutes in “debtors prison” (also pictured) due to the unfair taxation practices that our student-led Parliament enacted. A fun time was had by all and, of course, students were able to consume the leftover M&Ms! #onetribe
