Dear Sullivan Elementary School families,
I would like to start by saying thank you for all of your support and patience over the past two weeks. I am positive that I am not alone when I say teaching my own children while also working is quite challenging. It has been amazing to witness the innovative approach teachers have taken to maintain their classroom connections and engage with our students from different places. I appreciate all of the assistance you have provided students in learning how to utilize these various learning tools.
Moving forward, as Mr. Walk stated, we are still awaiting information from the Illinois State Board of Education, but wanted to keep you up to date regarding the next two weeks.
1. Our expectations for learning will increase beginning next week. Our incredible teachers have been working over the past week to develop at home learning materials for our students, while also helping students get acclimated to utilizing apps like Zoom to assist with the learning process. On Tuesday, March 31st, ALL SES students will have materials ready to be picked up on the west side of SES (off of Graham St. at the cafeteria doors). Materials will be available from 11AM-6PM on this date. Just drive up, give your student's name(s), and we will bring your materials right out to you.
*If you are unable to make it to the school during this time, please contact myself or your student's teacher, and we will arrange to get you your student's materials.
2. Mrs. Fleming will be "taking book orders" for any student that is interested. These orders must be placed by Monday, March 30th at 8AM.
*Students in grades K-2 can share what they are interested in and Mrs. Fleming will choose 2 books for any student that places a request.
*Students in grades 3 & 4 can complete an order through Destiny Quest (available in the form through the link below) or provide input for Mrs. Fleming to choose 2 books for them.
Please use the following link to complete your order: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc62k7E7E2mAeHdxKrF1hhKLL_AG7nuzkOeAkKIytbzvuiuKw/viewform?usp=sf_link
3. Please see Mr. Walk's email regarding food delivery for the next two weeks. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at ethellh@sullivan.k12.il.us
Again, I would like to thank you for all of the support that you have provided your students during these uncertain times. Please know that they are greatly missed! I know that I speak for all of the staff at Sullivan Elementary School when I say, we are very much looking forward to welcoming our students back to school. As always, please do not hesitate to reach to myself or student's teacher with any questions!
Thank you,
Heather Ethell
Sullivan Elementary School Principal
